Raw Walnut Pâté


Raw food. It was a revolution when the movement came to town. Folks realized they needed to eat actual food and that canned packaged and processed food was not only dead food but contained anti-nutrients. Raw food has done a lot in the way of changing the way people eat. It’s a fun diet to follow too but in the end very time consuming and expensive. Therefore, I suggest paté - these nut based spreads are loaded with fiber, fat and protein and super easy on the digestion due to the soaking process and might I add - super delicious. Enjoy this simple rendition.

Ingredients & Method:


3 cups of whole raw walnuts

soak in bowl with luke warm water and a big pinch of sea salt - this helps to neutralize the outer layer of the nut otherwise known as phytic acid (an anti- nutrient found on the outer layer of most legumes, nuts and seeds).


after 30 minutes to 2 hours (you can also do this overnight) drain and place walnuts in your food processor - I use the 11 cup Cuisinart (absolutely indispensable)


add:

2 cloves of garlic

3 large dashes of Tamari

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

2 tsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp Italian seasoning (dried herbs)

pinch of salt

few fresh grinds of black pepper

5 organic stalks of celebrity large chopped


pulse all the ingredients at first, wiping the sides of the Cuisinart down. Continue to process until relatively smooth. It’s really up you what kind of texture you want.


Enjoy as a dip, spread or rolled into seaweed
